A free Saturday...what is that?

I've never been big on complaining about being busy. I mean, who isn't right? And we don't even have kids yet. =) But this semester Micah and I have found ourselves a bit "free time challenged" with me having to fit all my hours in at the hospital (13 hour days) and classes, Micah with school, both of us with our callings with the youth at church, working at the temple every other Saturday, projects, papers, and tests, and trying to have some kind of social life. I was thinking, we haven't done any "cutesy, young married, childless things" in a while so I stole Micah from his books and we went to Oak Mountain. I think we missed the really bright colors of fall but here are some typical fall pictures of the beautiful trees here in B'ham.
We ended our afternoon at the Tip Top grill
in Bluff Park, can't beat the view!

This was a picture I got coming out of class one rainy day.
It's a bit overcast but I love this hill.

I always (well for the past three fall's) get a picture of this tree in our "back yard". Of course this picture doesn't do it justice but it's my favorite.

An Office Halloween

For Halloween Micah and I were Dwight and Angela from the Office. The torn lovers who have to keep their relationship a secret at Dunder Mifflin. We took this look to Trunk-or-Treat and I think people thought I just busted out my favorite holiday sweater for the event. Luckily, Micah and I made name tags so everyone would know who we were. We went to four different Goodwill's/Salvation Army's in a quest for the perfect cat sweater to pull off the "Angela Look" since she loves cats. After rummaging through racks and racks of old lady holiday sweaters, we came to the conclusion that no one gives up their cat sweaters. Cat ladies love their cats and can not bare to part with the 2nd best thing that keeps them warm at night. Although I found plenty of sweaters with cat hair on them, gross, I ended up with a Halloween sweater vest with a cat on it. For $2 you can't beat that right? Angela would be proud...or disgusted.

Our best Dwight and Angela faces

That's some serious hair spray to get that perfect Dwight quaff

Angela:
The DaVinci Code. I would bring The DaVinci Code. So I could burn The DaVinci Code.
Dwight:
Yeah right, that would keep you warm for like 7 seconds.

Wrap it up?

I got this email from my mom. I know that this blog doesn't offer cutting edge, hot off the press advice for those of you out there but I have to say I was pretty impressed with this tid bit:

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Who ever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one too as does Saran wrap. I can't count how many times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

Good to know....

"Fondue's and Fon-don'ts"

We had a GREAT fondue party at the Duffy's.
There was a table with chicken, steak, shrimp, and salmon with
tempura to dip in and then fry.
The other table had an AMAZING cheese
dip with breads,crackers, and veggies

And lastly and AMAZING chocolate dip with this to dip in it...

We have the GREATEST friends. Thanks again Duffy's, Norris', and Black's!

"I Got Candy in my Heels Tonight Baby..."

"Dance....There's nothing left for me to do but dance...."
Yes, this was the Young Women's contribution
to the Ward Talent Show.
We thought we'd do a Deb side ponytail thing
since we didn't really have time to find wigs.

Clot no more

No More COUMADIN!!
I am officially off the old lady drug!!! No more Coumadin for me!!!! Now I can eat salads, spinach, broccoli, cranberries and all the other Vit. K foods I haven't been able to eat for a year. I'm mostly excited to not be on something everyday that has not been good for my body and is a Category X drug meaning major complications if I were to get pregnant.
All around great news for me!
